My name is Yakini and I'm a 30-something girly girl who dreamed of marrying her Prince Charming, having babies, and making a warm and enchanting home all her life. I'm now married to a terrific guy (who makes me laugh every day) and we welcomed Baby Chase into the world on January 3, 2009! I am a proud Attachment Parenting mom, as I feel it's the best way to foster the type of relationship I want to have with our son.
I'm a big fan of Mary Higgens Clark novels, things that *sparkle,* thrift and consignment store shopping, the color pink, and Wendy Williams. I'm from your typical suburban family and have three sisters. We were raised by a southern mama and dad to be polite and well-mannered, respect our elders, and make people feel as comfortable as possible in our home. Although I no longer reside in the south, these virtues are still very much an important part of me.
I love being a wife and mom but, as a career-woman by day, don't really have an outlet to talk "baby" as much as I'd like. So on my blog you'll find me unabashedly sharing my experiences with balancing the babe, household, and career, while also maintaining my identity as self-proclaimed "priss-pot." As such, in addition to Baby Chase updates and special milestones, you'll read sporadic posts about makeup, paper-dolls, craft projects, cake decorating and the like! This is my personal space on the web devoted to my girlish whims as well as my life as a wife and new mom.
